EMS Academic Room Scheduling
Highlights The Office of the University Registrar successfully transitioned our academic scheduling software by sunsetting the legacy Ad Astra system and implementing EMS for academic room optimization.
This migration addresses a critical operational gap by providing a more robust, centralized platform to maximize the utilization of campus classrooms and instructional spaces while accommodating complex scheduling preferences.
Administrators and academic departments now have the ability to rely on automated optimization rules to match courses with the most appropriate physical spaces, handle scheduling conflicts more efficiently, and generate comprehensive space utilization reports.
In addition to streamlining the back-end administrative processes, this transition ensures that faculty and students are assigned to classrooms that best fit their course sizes and pedagogical needs. The first semester classrooms were successfully assigned via the newly configured EMS platform was Spring 2022.
Project Timeline
- Fall 2021 – EMS system configured and Ad Astra officially sunset
- Spring 2022 – First semester classrooms assigned via EMS
