Dear Georgetown Student,
I’m reaching out today to provide valuable information regarding voter registration and the resources available through the University to support your participation in the upcoming elections.
Georgetown University strongly encourages all eligible students to register and exercise their right to vote. To facilitate this process, we’re striving for 100% voter registration among our student body. Now, accessing voter registration and absentee ballot request services is easier than ever. Simply navigate to GU Experience and click on the “Register to Vote/Request Your Absentee Ballot” link in the “Campus Resources” card. Alternatively, you can directly access the portal at: bit.ly/guvotes.
Our partnership with GU Votes, a non-partisan student-led initiative supported by GU Politics, along with the Andrew Goodman Foundation, has resulted in the creation of this comprehensive voter portal. In addition to facilitating voter registration, the portal enables students to request absentee ballots, receive election updates, verify registration status, and gain insights into candidates. Should you have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us at voting@georgetown.edu.
Additionally, I’d like to point you towards some helpful resources:
- Review USAGov’s guide on absentee and early voting to understand the process, especially relevant for college students. (https://www.usa.gov/absentee-voting)
- For voter registration specifics within the District of Columbia, please visit the DC Board of Elections website: https://dcboe.org/.
- If you’re registering outside of DC, consult the Election Assistance Commission website for pertinent information. (https://www.eac.gov/voters/register-and-vote-in-your-state).
For state-specific information, including voter registration deadlines and absentee ballot request deadlines, keep an eye out for communications from GU Votes and the Office of Federal Relations. You can also find your state’s voter registration deadlines at https://www.usvotefoundation.org/vote/state-elections/state-election-dates-deadlines.htm. For the most accurate and current information, consider reaching out directly to your state election office.
This notification is provided in accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. Your engagement in the democratic process is invaluable, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Sincerely,
Annamarie Bianco
Associate Vice President and University Registrar
