Tuition Refund Periods For first and Second Sessions

Georgetown University’s Office of Billing and Payment Services is responsible for reporting and collecting Georgetown University tuition and fees at the direction of the University Registrar.  Accordingly, the University Registrar maintains the refund schedule. 

University policy for course withdrawal published in GU’s Undergraduate or Graduate Bulletins, or other relevant bulletins.  Standard refund periods for Main Campus Undergraduate and Graduate students during this academic year are found below

Should a student voluntarily withdraw from courses, credit for tuition will be calculated by the date of the student’s official notice to the Dean, according to periods and percentages listed below.

  • *Fall 2018 Mod B: Undergraduate students should complete an Add Drop Form to withdraw or drop a course after Sept. 6.
  • **Spring 2019 Mod B: Undergraduate students should complete an Add Drop Form to withdraw or drop a course after Jan. 17. 

Course Fees:  Individual courses may have fees (ex. Lab, Materials, Travel, Performance..) required for enrollment in the course.  Fees are published in a course’s “Detailed Class Information” page (in semester online Schedule of Classes, click on highlighted course title to view course details, including any fees.)   

Course lab or materials fees automatically are removed from a student’s account when the student officially Drops the course during the semester’s Registration Add/Drop Period.  Course Fees are not refunded for courses from which a student Withdraws after the semester’s Add/Drop Period has ended.

Non-Standard Refund Periods:  For programs with unique academic and refund calendars (ex. MBA, MSB Executive Education, EFL, Nursing Online, UNXD Bridge Courses, others),  please view those tuition refund calendars which are published on this site, or, for calendars not found on this site, follow link to view calendar on the program website.

Yates Fee: The Yates Field House Fee is a mandatory University fee charged to students enrolled full-time in courses. The Yates Fee cannot be waived nor removed from the accounts of full-time enrolled students.
