What is Live Registration?

Live registration refers to a process through which students are able to register for their classes in a particular term in real-time and have immediate results. 

  • Functions identically to completion and add/drop
  • Registration occurs immediately

FAQs

When are we transitioning to Live Registration?
Live registration will begin in April 2019 for the Fall 2019 term.
 

Why are we transitioning to Live Registration?

The Pre-Registration customization is reaching end of life and no longer functions as originally designed.  It lacks a modern user interface and cannot integrate easily with new technologies.  Maintaining this customization has become increasingly difficult.  Upgrading to Live Registration will eliminate these issues and allow us to transition to a more modern student information system (Banner 9).
 

Will there be training for Live Registration?

Yes. Training materials will become available before Live Registration begins. Please check back in Spring.
 

Who do I contact with questions about Live Registration?

Your dean or advisor can answer questions you have about live registration.  You can also contact the Registrar's Office.
 

How do I know I'm taking the right classes?

Students are encouraged to contact their dean or advisor prior to live registration with their course selections to ensure that the selection is in line with their academic progress.
 

How do I know what my schedule will be? 

You can view your class schedule in MyAccess immediately after you complete your registration for the term.
 

When does registration begin and end?

The important registration dates can be found on the Registrar's website.  The main campus academic calendar is also availalbe on the Registrar's website.
 

What will be my option if my desired section is closed?

If your desired section is closed and if waitlist is offered for that section, you will be able to add yourself to the waitlist.  If your desired section is closed and the waitlist is not offered for that section, you will be able to choose an alternate section of that course.
 

How do I get a full schedule?

Live registration will allow students to register for their desired sections when the registration opens.  If your chosen CRN is closed, you will be able to register for alternate sections to get a full schedule. Students should maximize their registration opportunity and prepare a list of alternate sections.
 

What should I do if I am unable to register due to restriction on the course/section?

The best practice is to review the schedule of classes ahead of time in preparation for live registration to determine restrictions, pre-requisites, co-requisites, and any special permission required for registration.  Please seek guidance from your dean/advisor if you wish to take a course which requires special permission or approval for registration.
 

When will completion start?

"Completion" is terminology utilized with pre-registration.   In live registration, there is no completion.  Students choose their desired sections and register during add/drop (live registration).
 

The section in which I am trying to register shows open seats but I am unable to register. 

Please review course text for any additional information regarding reserved seats for that section.
