Waitlist Instructions

HOW TO WAITLIST FOR A COURSE

Using MyAccess, students may add themselves to a course, drop a course, or add themselves to a waitlist. Double check that you are in the appropriate term.   If you cannot claim the seat due to a time conflict or prerequisite error, please contact your program advisor. Undergraduate students should contact their academic dean.

  1. If you are a Winner, click on the "Student Tab".
  2. Click on the "Add or Drop Courses" link. You will then see your Current Schedule displayed. To the left of the CRN of the waitlisted course, select Web Register from the Action drop-down menu.
  3. Click Submit Changes. 
  4. Review your revised Current Student Schedule to verify the changes you made are reflected. 

Please be sure to drop from the waitlist, any section for which you no longer want, so that others will be considered in the waitlist process. 

  • If a course is open  and not restricted to you, you may register immediately for the course.
  • If a course is closed (C), but has a waitlist, you may add yourself to the waitlist for that course. Please add the CRN  in the Add Drop worksheet. Then, you may select the Waitlist option from the Action dropdown box.
  • If a course is closed (C) and does not have a waitlist, you will not be able to add yourself to a waitlist. 

The waitlist  will run each week night (excluding holidays) during registration. Winners will receive an email from the University Registrar with instructions to claim spaces through MyAccess within 24 hours. After 24 hours, non-responsive students will lose their space.

CLAIMING A WAITLIST SEAT

If you have won a seat off a Waitlist, complete the following to claim your seat. 

  1. If you are a "Winner", click on the "Student Tab".
  2. Go to Term and select the appropriate term.
  3. Click on the “Add or Drop Courses” link. You will then see your Current Schedule displayed. To the left of the CRN of the waitlisted course, select “Web Register” from the “Action” drop-down menu.
  4. Click “Submit Changes.”
  5. Review your revised Current Student Schedule to verify the changes you made are reflected.

CHECKING/CONFIRMING WAITLIST STATUS

If you receive an email from the Office of the Registrar saying you have won a seat on a Waitlist, you are eligible to claim your seat. You may also check/confirm your Waitlist Status. 

Confirm that you are in the appropriate term and follow the instructions below to confirm your Waitlist Status:

  1. Log in to MyAccess.
  2. Click on the “Student” tab.
  3. Click on the “My Waitlist” link.
  4. If you have won a seat off a waitlist, it will say “Winner” in the “Waitlist Status” column.
