To discuss the type and amount of education benefits available to you, please speak with a Veterans Administration (VA) Education Benefits Counselor at 888-GI BILL 1 (888-442-4551) or visit http://www.gibill.va.gov. The toll-free number and website provide information on VA education benefits 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. In addition, the website provides up-to-date forms required to claim a VA benefit.
To request enrollment certification contact your Veterans Certification Coordinator:
- Main Campus Students (including SNHS) - Office of the University Registrar
- Medical Students - Office of the Medical Center Registrar
- Law Students - Office of the Law Center Registrar
- Non-Credit Students - contact your program to certify your non-credit VA enrollment. Non-Credit Program Managers: If you need information and training on enrollment certification, please see Certifying Officials at the Veterans Adminstration.
The University Registrar is charged with veteran certification at the request of individual students. Certification information is based on the student's academic program and current enrollment status.The University Registrar will make every reasonable attempt to assist students with certification, however, please understand that school officials are not VA employees. It is the sole responsibility of the Veterans Administration to determine an applicant's eligibility for educational assistance. Please contact the VA for benefits claims.
Steps to Certification
It is the policy of Georgetown
University to process what is known as "confirmed enrollment;" student
enrollment will be verified at the completion of the current Add/Drop
period and submitted as 'confirmed' to
the VA. Georgetown requests that students
applying for benefits complete a GU "Veterans Benefits Information" form
at the beginning of each semester. This form requests information
that is used to complete the Enrollment Certification form supplied
to the VA. Failure to complete this form will delay the processing
of
the student's claim.
